Another long-standing restaurant has left the scene as the year comes to an end. After nearly 30 years, Flatiron Bar & Diner, located at 129 E. Nationwide Blvd., closed its doors on Thursday, Dec. 27.
“We have closed our doors indefinitely,” the restaurant said in a post on Facebook. “Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years, you are like family to us and we will miss you all!”
Posts on Facebook indicate that Flatiron may have been experiencing some staffing issues. The restaurant posted updates in September, October and November looking for service industry members to join their staff. Other restaurant owners have observed a worker drought, including the operators of Westies in Clintonville, which transitioned into an event space earlier this year.
Flatiron joins several other notable restaurant closures in 2018, including CBC Restaurant, the Blue Danube and the Worthington Inn.
