National brand First Watch is opening its ninth Columbus breakfast, brunch and lunch spot at the Gateway. The Florida-based restaurant, which boasts a lack of deep fryers and heat lamps, will bring its service to a new market run by University District residents, students, alumni and staff.
Public Relations and Communications Manager Eleni Kouvatsos said First Watch’s goal is to fill a void in a market that is lacking morning meal options.
“The existing student and residential housing in the Gateway area is dense, with a number of additional housing developments being constructed nearby,” she said. “There was a clear gap in the marketplace for a quality breakfast, brunch and lunch eatery surrounding all the residential growth, and First Watch is thrilled to have the opportunity to fill that gap.”
The daytime café will join a tenant line-up of businesses, office space, retail and other restaurants surrounded by a spreading residential landscape, opening its doors in mid-July. Their crew is in the midst of construction on the 3,600 square foot space, which will have indoor and outdoor seating.
Located at 1585 N. High St. in the south campus area, just across the street from the Gateway Film Center, the location allows First Watch to join what is increasingly becoming an entertainment hub. It’ll be on a slightly different schedule, opening from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily.
