First Lux Boheme Bazaar On Sunday

Like a true global fashionista, Priscilla Teixeira’s eyes grow wider than a chunky cuff bracelet when asked about her craft. After earning a master’s degree in fashion and spending 25 years entrenched in the industry, the São Paulo native (and Columbus resident of 11 years) launched the Lux Boheme apparel and accessories website in May, and a downtown by-appointment-only showroom in July. She offers women a unique mix of discounted high-end pieces and handmade items from developing countries. “My talent is to get people to go and have fun,” she said. “Forget trends and rules; it’s about what works for you as an individual.”

Priscilla’s intensely personalized approach to fashion earned her significant recognition when she ran the Savvy department of Nordstrom at Easton. “People always told me that I should have my own store,” she said. “When I became a single mom, I couldn’t work retail hours anymore and wanted to get back to my roots.” With Lux Boheme, she works with vendors in Brazil and India to buy handbags, jewelry, and shoes, and with department stores like Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue to buy apparel. She also carries her own line of silkscreened and hand painted American Apparel scarves. Her big dream is to someday create a warehouse concept with vignettes featuring multiple designers and artists. No matter what happens, she’ll maintain her mantra of keeping customers happy and in control. To her, fashion should be playful and fun. “It’s about loving something and feeling confident,” she said. “If you’re not going to enjoy it, what’s the point? You have to get a kick out of it.”

This Sunday at Café Brioso, Priscilla will host her first annual Lux Boheme Bazaar from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. She’ll offer soda-pop cell bags for $35 (regularly $50), Horst wool scarves for $50 (regularly $100), and Missoni winter scarves for $125 (regularly $220). Handmade jewelry by Kristi Ross, prints by Ron Amicon, glass art by Michael Bonardi, and recycled wine bags by Shawnee Chandler also will be available. Complimentary Bloody Marys and recycled giftwrap will be on hand, and live music will be performed by The Shazzbots, Stan Smith, Christian Howes, Maggie Green, and Brett Allen. This is a private event, so please use the code “Columbus Underground” at the door. For more information, visit luxbohemebazaar.com and luxboheme.com.
