First Look: Winans at Grandview Yard

Grandview Yard residents, shoppers and diners will soon have a new spot to get their fill of wine, chocolates and coffee. Winans, the Dayton-based franchise with locations in German Village, Dublin and Downtown, opens at 1125 Yard St. on Saturday, April 27.

This new location comes from two new franchisers, Adriane Hopper and Matt Finkes. They’ll be one of two locations (Downtown also) offering wine.

“I’m from Piqua, where Winans originated, so I’ve known about Winans for a long, long time,” says Finkes, “and I’ve kind of always had an entrepreneurial spirit. And Adriane has 20 years of experience in the restaurant, so both of our abilities made this a good match. And we were able to find a great location.”

Winans has a selection of ready-to-eat chocolates and other sweets, along with gift baskets and boxes. There’s seating for roughly 30 patrons, including a large table for groups or business meetings.

The shop soft opened this week, preparing for its grand opening on Saturday. Hopper says the reception from the community has been welcoming so far.

“Some of the other business owners are excited,” she said. “They approached us and want to do pairings and work with us and do events with us as well. So I feel like everyone’s been pretty warm.”

Winans will operate seven days per week, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
