First Look: The Pierce
The developer of Downtown’s newest (and reddest) building has given it a name, and hopes to welcome the first new residents into the project this spring.
The Pierce, at 321 E. Capital St., is a 93-unit apartment building with a distinctive exterior. The project is currently pre-leasing, with rents set between $1,300 and $2,000 per month for one- or two-bedroom apartments that range in size from 749 to 979 square feet (a spot in the 93-space parking garage is extra).
A recent tour of the project showed work wrapping up on the upper floors but still very much in progress on the ground floor, where a multi-level common area will offer residents amenities like a pool table, a fitness center and a coffee bar.
The development, which was first proposed in 2015, replaces a three-story brick building that was deemed unsafe for reuse after a century of pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The Stonehenge Company bought the property from the previous owner, Boehringer Ingelheim Roxane, and settled on the current, nine-story version of the design after presenting several different iterations to the Downtown Commission.
