Short North has welcomed a new breakfast and lunch spot. The Lox Bagel Shop, located at 772 N. High St., opened its doors early Monday morning.
The menu is simple. Start with a bagel — plain, everything, sea salt and herb, or sesame — and add a spread of cream cheese in plain, chive, roasted garlic, lox, or beet and thyme. There’s also the option of jam or “fancy jam,” with strawberry and pink peppercorn.
For something a little more substantial, there’s the breakfast sandwich, which comes with egg and cheese and the option to add bacon, sausage, lox, pastrami, or avocado for an up-charge. The lox bagel is another choice, and comes with capers and onion.
For lunch, guests can get bagel sandwiches with pastrami, veggies, egg salad, pork or the rotating special. Drip coffee, cold-brew and bottled beverages are available as well.
Salads can be found in a grab-and-go case, and the lox, spreads, and pastrami are all for sale in bulk.
Owner Kevin Crowley said his vision was a blend between a Montreal and a New York bagel shop, offering only hand-rolled, fresh-baked bagels. He took over the space earlier this year, replacing Homefare, which closed in late 2017.
The Lox Bagel Shop will operate daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
