Fine art marketplace and Columbus-based startup PatronArt now has a dedicated space to view local art in real life. Located on the second floor of the Idea Foundry, PatronArt’s L-Gallery brings the company’s virtual mission of art accessibility to the physical world.
Currently showing is Forged: The Art of the Idea Foundry, featuring a selection of pieces by member artists chosen by head PatronArt curator Ralph Walters.
“Our first show is going to give artists who use the Idea Foundry’s facilities an opportunity to show their work, but moving forward PatronArt is going to use the L-Gallery to highlight [our] local talent,” said Walters.
On the Franklinton Friday in July, the space will be reserved for work by members of the PatronArt community. The bulk of the work will likely come from Columbus members, said Walters.
Walters, an experienced curator who has curated dozens of shows around Ohio over the past 20 years, said he has truly found a home in the Columbus arts scene. “It’s given me the opportunity to befriend a lot of amazing artists,” he said. “Working with PatronArt to create the L-Gallery let me give back to them.”
L-Gallery is open during Idea Foundry business hours: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, or from 7 to 10 p.m. on the second Friday of every month, during Franklinton Fridays.
