The newest location of Local Cantina is now open, transforming the old Stack City spot at The Cap. It marks the ninth location for the brand, with its first location outside of Columbus opening in Dayton later this fall.

With nearly 200 seats inside and on the patio, Local Cantina in the Short North is the largest of all its locations. In close proximity to the Convention Center and other Short North and Downtown attractions, owner George Tanchevski says they’ve found a good fit for their latest Columbus store.

“I think it’s going to be a good outdoor venue, and we’ve got some good price points,” Tanchevski says. “I think close to the Convention Center is going to be good for us. All the construction is done. We got really lucky. It’s going to be a real destination area for people all over.”

The space itself flows similarly to Stack City, with a mixture of high tops, booths and bar seating. A small room near the entrance houses a gaming area with several TVs and consoles with more than a dozen vintage old school games — a unique element to this location.

The menu, however, is identical to that of its other eight locations. It features a range of appetizers, like Mexican street corn, shrimp and avocado taquitos and deep fried avocado, as well as quesadillas, nachos, salads, and, of course, tacos. They round the menu out with a selection of entrees like the chimichanga, fajitas, and a variety of burritos. A full bar highlights their stock of local, regional and national craft beers.

Local Cantina can be found at 600 N. High St.
