First Look: LEGOLAND Discovery Center Columbus
LEGOLAND Discovery Center held its grand opening on Friday, Sept. 28 at Easton Town Center. The opening ceremony featured speaker remarks, a children’s parade, and a LEGO brick wall “ribbon cutting” by LEGOLAND’s Creative Crew kids.
General manager of LEGOLAND Discovery Center Columbus Jacob Kristensen, as well as Easton Chief Executive Jennifer Peterson and TourismOhio Chief Matt MacLaren gave remarks.
At 36,000 square feet, the indoor attraction features two interactive rides, a 4D Cinema,10 LEGO play zones, a creative workshop and birthday party rooms, and a gift shop. The center is recommended for families with children aged 3 to 10.
Kristensen noted that the center is the 11th of its kind, with other locations in Florida and New York City.
The LEGOLAND Hotel in California was the first in the country. Kristensen said that he’s trying to get the hotel’s popular disco elevator at the center in Columbus.
“I think there are regulation the may make that hard,” said Kristensen. “But I really want it!”
