    First Look: Ethyl & Tank

This past weekend, Ethyl & Tank, campus’ latest multi-spot venue, opened with little advertisement and lots of hype. Curious customers came out in droves to check out the coffeehouse/bar/restaurant/arcade, located at 19 East 13th Avenue, which is still under slight construction.

The space can seat about 95 guests, including six seats at Ethyl, the coffee part of the operation. There are separate counters for booze and caffeine, but taps at both: 34 at Tank, which are a collection of domestic, craft, and local beers, and three at Ethyl for iced coffee and coffee-based brews.

Ethyl & Tank’s weekday happy hour runs from 3pm – 9pm; weekend happy hour (yes, weekend happy hour) is from 2pm – 7pm. During that time, all drinks in the house are half-priced, including coffee ones. Ethyl & Tank also carries growlers in two sizes: one for beer, the other for iced-coffee, which will be available beginning this Spring.

Brunch service also begins this upcoming weekend at Ethyl & Tank, complete with a Blood Mary Bar. The menu there is Southern-inspired, so look for Chicken & Waffles, Chicken Fried Steak & Gravy, and their tasty take on Pulled Pork on anything you desire.

There are 10 televisions in the joint, so whether you want to catch the game, study, or nurse a  hangover, Ethyl & Tank has you covered.

“We’re trying to create a different kind of college atmosphere from what it usually would be,” shares Ismail Alshahal, Manager at Ethyl & Tank. “We want this to be an eclectic place, where you can get it all: coffee, food, drink, and a smile.”

Ethyl & Tank is open daily from 11am – 2am. It is 21+ after 9pm every night. For more, follow them at www.facebook.com/ethylandtank.
