The fiesta begins for Cameron Mitchell Restaurants’ latest, El Segundo, today, Tuesday August 31.
The Mexican restaurant brings new life to the shuttered home of bygone CMR eatery Harvey & Ed’s at 698 N. High St.
As required for any Mexican restaurant, El Segundo’s menu kicks off with chips, salsa and guacamole, and includes other starters like queso fundido, Mexican street corn and tamales. There are eight varieties of tacos, bowls & burritos and fajitas, as well as entrees like the quesadilla and chili-rubbed carne asada. Mexican-inspired flatbreads and soups & salads round things out.
In the drinks department, tequila gets its own book, with 100 plus varieties of tequila and mezcal available. With all that tequila, margaritas are a must, ranging in flavors from classic to fruity, with a few unique spins on the staple cocktail also available.
El Segundo is open from 4 – 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, and 4 – 11 p.m. Friday & Saturday. There are two happy hours: 4 – 6 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, and Sunday from 8 p.m. to close, offering half-off margaritas, canned beer, appetizers and flatbreads.
