    First Look: Burgerim Downtown

The Los Angeles-based burger franchise, Burgerim, has opened its doors Downtown, one of two locations opening this year. The bar and restaurant, which specializes in serving up three-ounce patties is located at 121 S. High St., in the space once occupied by The Chintz Room.

Guests can choose from among 11 different kinds of patties, including five different varieties of beef, as well as lamb, chicken breast, turkey, salmon, falafel and veggie. The smaller-than-usual burgers can come solo, by the pair or in a trio as part of a combo meal. To customize them, guests can choose a “style,” which go from classic with American cheese and LTOP, to “caliente” with pepper jack, jalapeños, lettuce, cajun spice and habanero mayo, to a purely create-your-own option.

Sides include traditional options like fries, onion rings, and sweet potato fries, which can all be elevated with seasoning, jalapeños and cheese, garlic aioli, or bacon and cheese.

Salads, wings, and milkshakes also make an appearance on the menu.

Franchisee Ron Day said when trying out Burgerim in Los Angeles, he found it was a concept Columbus was missing — a restaurant that allows full customization of the menu.

“I don’t want to order a burger and say ‘Take this off’ or ‘Take that off’ when I can just order from scratch with the protein I want,” he said in an interview in February. “Whatever your garden is, if you want something special on there, jalapeños, pineapples, whatever.”

Burgerim is a 4,000 square foot open space with seating for more than 100 inside and on the patio. The fast casual restaurant offers both takeout and delivery. They operate seven days a week, from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; from 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday; and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
