After weeks of anticipation, Angry Bear Kitchen, Old North Columbus’ latest modern American eatery, open its doors today. The restaurant is the shared venture of Jarod Norris, Tyler Minnis, and Daniel Scalzo, the three “angry bears”.

The menu at Angry Bear Kitchen is an inspired and eclectic blend of familiar flavors presented in non-tradtional ways. Like the Pork Rillette Hand Pie that’s served with wonderfully-perfumed pickled apple slices and an intense, and little strange, mustard ice cream.


Also worth noting: Short Rib Tartar that’s fresh and not at all chewy, Chicken Everything that celebrates the very essence of chicken-ness, Braised Pork Shank that’s unctuous and comforting, and Foie Gras Donut served with a rhubarb strawberry sauce that’s the perfect balance for the rich filling.





Angry Bear Kitchen will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 5pm to 10pm, Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 1am, and on Sundays from 11am to 3pm for brunch. Happy Hour runs Tuesday through Friday from 6pm to 7pm, and features $5 glasses of house wine.

A late-night Happy Hour on Friday and Saturday from 10pm -1am brings its own special menu with items from the regular list, as well as a few late-night-only treats. Angry Bear Kitchen offers complimentary valet parking every day of the week.
