First Look: Alqueria
Farm-to-table restaurant Alqueria is now open for lunch and dinner. Opened by two former Barcelona chefs Jacob Hough and Patrick Marker, the restaurant offers American cuisine with a twist, along with a signature cocktail menu and extensive wine list.
The menu will be familiar to any Midwesterner. Both Hough and Marker suggest the pork shank and braised short ribs as entrees; the rest of the menu is rounded out with a burger, buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, some dynamic salads and small cheese plates, among other offerings.
The space itself offers two dining rooms, one with a large bar. Hough and Marker used a lot of wood, copper accents, and old farming equipment to create a rustic, farmhouse feel.
Alqueria can be found at 247 King Ave. It’s open now for lunch and dinner, but Hough and Marker have plans to add brunch by spring of 2019.
