    There are some new Farmers Markets popping up around town, so it’s time for an update on where you can find local, fresh produce and more to stock your pantry and get the bests tastes of the season.

    Saturday, April 30th is opening weekend for the Clintonville Farmers Market and next Wednesday, May 4th opens the Dublin Farmers Market. New this year is a Farmers Market in Westgate opening in June, and the Canal Market District opening in Newark. Also, Clintonville Natural Foods opened on April 23, 2016.

    If you don’t grow your own food or already support a CSA, Farmers Markets give you a chance to get some of the best local food around. Here’s an updated list for you to get the best produce grown here in Columbus and our surrounding areas. Happy Hunting!

    400 Market. Every 2nd Friday from 7pm to 10pm, coincides with Franklinton Fridays.  This market may not have lots of fresh produce, but does promise to have: “locally-produced: artisan baked goods, chocolates, & more; a variety of work from our in-house artists; hand-crafted jewelry, candles, soaps and more; vintage clothes & home goods; and more.”

    Athens Farmers’ Market. A bit of a drive, but this one is great. “Our farmers and producers provide the absolute best food for area shoppers all year round! What began as a handful of farmers selling their produce is now a community event showcasing farmers, orchardists, specialty food producers, bakers, horticulturalists, cheese makers and many other food-based entrepreneurs.” The market is open Saturdays Year-round from 9am-12pm; on Wednesdays from 9am-12pm, running April through December; and on Thursdays from 4pm-7pm running May to September.     Bexley Farmers’ Market, Corner of Parkview and Main St., Thursdays from 4-7pm, May 19th – October. Locally grown produce, meats and cheeses, children’s events, food demonstrations. Like them on Facebook. Follow on twitter.

    Bexley Natural Market, 508 North Cassady Avenue in their parking lot. Farmers’ Market, Wednesdays 3pm-7pm, starting mid-May and going through November. Like them on Facebook.

    Blendon Township Farmers’ Market, – cancelled for 2016 due to repaving and road construction, most likely will return in 2017.

    NEW! Canal Market District, Located at 24 East Walnut St., Newark, Ohio 43055. Farmers Market hours 4pm-7pm Tuesday & Friday. Arts & Crafts Market hours 10am-4pm on the 2nd Saturday of the Month (June-October), season runs June 3rd through October 28th. Shop from 60 of Central Ohio’s BEST local food producers and vendors. First farmers market in Licking County to accept EBT, WIC Farm Market Nutrition Program, and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program coupons. They will also have food trucks, live music, eductaional programs, community organizations. Like them on Facebook.

    Canal Winchester Farmers Market, Downtown at 36 South High Street, Saturdays from 9am-12pm, May 28th through September 24th (rain or shine). One of central Ohio’s longest running outdoor markets. The market will be closed on July 30th to accommodate the Canal Winchester Blues & Ribfest, September 3rd for the Canal Winchester Labor Day Festival.

    Clintonville Farmers’ Market. 2016 marks the 14th season of the Clintonville Farmers’ Market! April 30th is opening day of outdoor Saturday markets along N. High Street, between Orchard Lane and W. Dunedin Road. From 9am-Noon for seasonal, locally-produced, freshly-harvested Ohio food and lots of fun. The summer Wednesday market runs from July 6 through September 28 this year, 4 to 7pm, at the same location. Ride your bike to market and park bikes, wagons, and strollers at the Baer Wheels Bike Corral. Visit the market information table to exchange debit card and Ohio Direction Cards EBT/SNAP for market tokens. Producers with eligible items accept VeggieSNAP tokens and WIC coupons. Some accept Lifecare Alliance Senior coupons, as well. For the safety of people and produce, we ask that patrons leave pets at home. Kids Garden Club is back for 2016.     Columbus Public Health Market, July 28th, August 4th and 11th from 10:00am to 1:00pm on the CPH front lawn 240 Parsons Avenue.

    Columbus Winter Farmers Market, Season held November-March. No updates as of publishing for late fall dates.

    Delaware Farmers’ Market: The Main Street Farmer’s Market (Historic downtown Delaware), 2016 season will begin on Saturday, May 21st and run through Saturday, October 29th, weather permitting. The popular markets will run from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturdays and from 3pm to 6 pm on Wednesdays starting May 21st. Wednesday markets will begin after June 1st. The sidewalk markets are conducted on the shady side of Sandusky Street in the heart of Historic Downtown Delaware. Income-eligible senior citizens can get vouchers for farmers’ market foods from the Delaware County Council for Older Adults.

    Dublin Farmers’ Market, Opens Wednesday, May 4th, and every Wednesday through September 28th from 3:30-6:30pm in the Oakland Nursery parking lot! Check the website for dates for live cooking demonstrations by Whole Foods Market.  Like them on Facebook. Follow on Twitter.

    Easton Farmers Market, in the Town Square behind Brio Tuscan Grill, Thursdays, June 2nd through August 25th, 4:00-7:00pm, rain or shine. You will find herbs, flowers, vegetables, free range chicken and grass fed beef and pork as well as artisanal foods, eco products and exquisite handicrafts.     Franklin Park Conservatory Farmers’ Market, Wednesdays, June 1st–September 7th, 3:30–6:30pm. Shop from local farmers every week for seasonal vegetables, fruits and flowers, plants, baked goods, honey, sauces, oils and vinegars, beef, pork, eggs and cheese. Enjoy cooking and wellness demonstrations, food trucks, live music and interactive kids’ crafts. Market vendors accept EBT with the Ohio Direction Card and offers incentive Veggie SNAPS (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) dollars for fresh produce. Ample free parking available and no admission charged!

    Franklinton Produce Market, Franklinton Gardens Produce Stand hours are Tuesday, from 4-7pm (hours subject to increase based on staffing availability). Their CSA runs from June-October and is eligible for individuals who live/work in Franklinton and is directly delivered to subscribers doorsteps/workplace. We will soon launch an online storefront so that orders can be placed directly for our neighborhood-based mobile market, and possibly city-wide wholesale. Income restricted residents eligible for pricing discounts, and those who receive EBT benefits are eligible for the VeggieSNAPs produce doubling program.

    Grandview Avenue Farmers Market, Grandview Avenue Farmer’s Market is run by The Pearl Alley Growers’ Association. It opens this year on Saturday, July 2nd and closes on Saturday, October 29th. Events: Market Sample Day on August 13th – All vendors will have small samples available for everyone to try, and Apple Day on September 17th – Try several types of apples before you buy.     Granville Farmers’ Market, Saturdays, May 7th to October 29th; 8:30am to noon; N. Main St. Has been called the “best in Central Ohio.” Located 30 miles east of Columbus. Ten new vendors this year and a total of 61 spaces. Like them on Facebook.

    Grove City Farmers’ Market, Saturdays, May 21st – September 10th. Historic Grove City Town Center | Corner of Broadway and Park Street Grove City, Ohio 43123. Enjoy fresh produce, locally raised meats, homemade jams and jellies, baked goods, and more!

    Hilliard Farm Market, located at Hilliard United Methodist Church at 5445 Scioto Darby Rd., Hilliard, OH, Every Tuesday 4-7pm, June 7th – September 13th. They are seeking volunteers for the 2016 season. Like them on Facebook. Follow on Twitter.

    Jefferson Community Farmers Market, 2015 was final year

    Lancaster Farmer’s Market, Lancaster, Every Saturday 8am-12pm, May 7th-October 29th held at the Government Services Parking Lot, 239 W. Main St, Lancaster, OH. The market takes place rain or shine. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, but should be on a leash. Some vendors accept credit and debit cards, SNAP/EBT, Ohio Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons. Look for program signs on display by participating vendors.  AND! Lancaster Handmade Market, May through October on the SECOND Saturday of the month 9am-1pm, under the trees at Broad and Main.     Merion Village Farmers’ Market, 106 E. Moler Street, corner of Moler and 4th Streets, Saturdays, June 4th through September 24th, 9am to noon. Like them on Facebook. 

    Mount Vernon Farmers’ Market, Public Square, intersection of Main Street and High Street, Every Saturday from 9am to noon. Rain or shine. May 7th is opening day. Goes through October. Produce, flowers, honey, baked goods, pet snacks, seasonal cooking demos with professional chefs, and more. Find unique, handmade items at the Makers Market across the street in front of City Hall.

    Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  Markets are in Livingston Park (along Children’s Drive) from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on the following Tuesdays: July 19, August 2, August 16, August 30, Sept. 13, and Sept. 27. They will be offering EBT and the Veggie SNAPS program. In this program, people can receive $10.00 of Veggie SNAP tokens when using $10.00 of their EBT dollars.

    Nationwide Pearl Alley Growers Market at the Arena, Nationwide Market runs on Thursdays from 10AM-1PM. It opens this year on Thursday, June 30th and closes on Thursday, October 27th. Events: Zucchini Day on July 14th, Farmer’s Festival on August 18th, Apple Day on September 15th.

    New Albany Farmers’ Market, 200 Market Square, Market Street Square, Every Thursday 4-7pm, Summer Season: June 23rd – September 8th. At this “Producer-only” market, you will find over thirty vendors with local fruits, vegetables, herbs, breads, poultry, beef, dairy, eggs and gluten free baked goods, and salsas.     North Market Farmers’ Market, 59 Spruce St., Saturdays 8am, April 30- end of October/early November. June 4th is the official opening date. The North Market Farmers Market is one of the oldest and largest in Central Ohio, featuring more than 20 farmers offering an array of locally-grown fruits, vegetables, flowers, plants, honey and herbs. Every Saturday throughout the growing season, Ohio farmers bring their fresh-picked produce to North Market, where customers are able to purchase directly from the local farms selling the highest-quality products from their fields. Peddlers’ Picnic Sundays will showcase locally made and vintage fine art, jewelry, handmade items and more, start on June 5th through October 30th, with no dates on July 10th or October 16th.     Pearl Market Downtown Columbus (Summer), Pearl Alley downtown, Every Tuesday & Friday from 10:30am-1 pm from Tuesday June 3rd through Friday October 14. Offers lunch items, breads, produce, flowers, popcorn. Musicians performing also.     Pickerington Farmers Market, in Olde Pickerington Village, 89 North Center Street at Town Square Drive, Thursdays from 4pm-7pm, June 2nd through September 29th. Each week, vendors offered produce, meats and dairy products as well as baked goods, crafts, and more. Like them on Facebook.

    Plain City Farmers Market, Located at the corner of S. Chillicothe and S.R. 161 the “finest little Farmers Market around” is every Thursday from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. starting July 7th through September 29th. Fresh fruits and veggies, baked and canned goods, order for poultry and eggs, cut flowers. Like them on Facebook.

    Powell Farmers Market, Spring/Summer Market for 2016 runs from May 14th thru October 29th every Saturday from 9:00am-12:00pm. The market is located at 240 N. Liberty Street, Powell, OH. (Corner of Liberty and Grace Drive).

    Prairie Township Farmers Market, season begins Monday, June 6 and runs through Monday, September 26. The market meets from 4-7 pm on Monday evenings and we are located at the Prairie Township Community Center at 5955 West Broad St., Columbus OH 43119.

    Reynoldsburg Farmers’ Market, 1520 Davidson Drive in Huber Park, Every Thursday from 3:30-6:30pm, June 16th through September 8th. Established in 2008, market visitors will find tomatoes, sweet corn, melons, eggplant, asparagus, beans, cabbage, onions, honey, flowers, herbs, and baked goods. Like them on Facebook.

    Smith Farm Market – We are a year round farm market that has been bringing Central Ohio an exceptional variety of local produce, plants, and delicious baked goods for almost forty years.     Upper Arlington Farmers’ Market, Every Wednesday from May 11th – September 28th, 3:00-6:00pm. Upper Arlington Senior Center, 1945 Ridgeview Road. Market held rain or shine. “Join us for Peak of the Pick from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17. The event features special tastings, music and more! If it’s healthy, locally produced fruits, veggies, herbs, breads, pork, beef, flowers and dairy you’re looking for, the Upper Arlington Farmers’ Market has it all! We invite you to join us every Wednesday, where you can find a variety of delicious produce, sold to you directly from local farmers. Our market also offers a variety of specialty vendors including products like beef jerky, organic dog food and dog treats, gourmet granola, and soy candles to name a few.”

    Uptown Westerville Farmers’ Market, May 4th through October 26th, Wednesdays, from 3:00-6:00 pm, at the corner of N. State and E. Home Streets. The Uptown Westerville Farmers’ Market is a rain or shine market. In-lot and on-street free parking is available near the market and throughout Uptown Westerville.     NEW! Westgate Farmers Market Open the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from June through October this season from 9am-1pm. Opening date is June 4, 2016 and end of season is October 15, 2016. Located at the West Gate Masonic Lodge, 2925 West Broad Street, Columbus Ohio 43024.     Worthington Farmers Market, The summer market runs every Saturday from May 7th thru October 29th, in the streets of Olde Worthington from 8:00am-12:00pm. Established in 1987, it’s one of the largest and most respected markets in Ohio. Over 70 vendors participate in the market which is held in downtown Worthington on the Village Green during Summer. Shop for fresh, Ohio grown seasonal fruits and vegetables interspersed with flowers, plants and homemade foodstuffs that vendors display. Use convenient parking behind the Worthington Inn and the Methodist church just one block south of the intersection of Routes 23 and 161. Like them on Facebook.

    Worthington Indoor Winter Market, Saturdays from November thru April. Every Saturday, 10:00am-1:00pm at the Shoppes at Worthington Place. 7227 N. High St., November 5th to April 29th. You will find locally grown seasonal fruits and vegetables, locally produced cheeses, jams, jellies, honey and maple syrup, high quality cuts of meat from carefully raised farm animals, eggs from pastured chickens, flowers, herbs, plants, homemade soaps, and foodstuffs.
