April 20 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

SATURDAY, APRIL 20
Pick the Brain of a Well-Established Author and Plan Your Writing Attack!
Instructor: Robin Yocum

You want to write a novel, but you’re uncertain how to start, worried that you won’t be able to finish, or confused on how to get your finished product into print. Don’t worry. Every writer who has ever pecked out that first word has had the same concerns. In this master class taught by Central Ohio author Robin Yocum, you will cover all aspects of getting your book into print. Start with concept and character development. Move on to outlining and writing. Discuss the tricks needed to get you past writer’s block and over the hump to completion. Chart a plan of attack for getting an agent and into print. A large portion of the class will be Q&A so that you can get your specific questions answered.

INSTRUCTOR: Robin Yocum is known for his fiction set in the Ohio River Valley. His most recent novel, A Perfect Shot, was released in April 2018. He is the author of our four additional works of fiction, including Favorite Sons, which was named the 2011 Book of the Year for Mystery/Suspense by USA Book News, and A Brilliant Death, which was a finalist for both the 2017 Edgar Award and the Silver Falchion Award for best adult mystery. He also has written two works of non-fiction. As a reporter with The Columbus Dispatch, Yocum won more than 30 local, state and national journalism awards in categories ranging from investigative reporting to feature writing. He is the principle at Yocum Communications, a public relations and marketing consulting firm in Galena, Ohio.
