Learn the art of copper enameling in this fun workshop intensive. We will cover sifting and layering techniques with access to a large selection of transparent and opaque colors. You will be introduced to several ways to embellish your pieces including sgraffito, stencils, rubber stamps, and decals. We will go over techniques for enameling on flat pieces as well as domed/curved pieces.
You will be firing your pieces in a 1500 degree kiln to allow the powdered glass enamel to fuse to the copper surfaces one layer at a time. Students will make several pieces to be used as samples or completed into finished projects.
Copper, materials, tools, and dust masks will be provided for this workshop. Students may bring their own cut copper shapes or use those provided.
Students will have the option to purchase chain and earwire options.
Please bring any eyeglasses needed for up close work and wear closed toed shoes for your safety.
Students will have the opportunity to take breaks for lunch/snacks.
This workshop is open to any student ages 16+.
This workshop has a max of 8 students.
This workshop is located in our NEW studio, located at 1365 Grandview Avenue, directly behind Figlio.
Our studio is located only a block away from our retail shop, so you can park once to both shop and take your workshop!
