Wine Tasting with Elizabeth Spencer Winery

March 12, 2020 6:00 pm @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for a very special evening with Alicia Seay, the National Sales Manager of Elizabeth Spencer Winery on Thursday, March 12th, from 6-8pm at The Hills Market Downtown!

A husband and wife team, Spencer Graham and Elizabeth Pressler have been making wine together since their debut wine in 1998. Elizabeth started in the restaurant industry, then moved fully into wine, working at Joseph Phelps and Hess! Elizabeth Spencer aspires to make wines that are delicious to drink, elegant, refined and balanced. The motto at Elizabeth Spencer is “we are always refining.” Always striving for excellence by growing, clarifying, and improving.

Alicia will be pouring 5 different wines at The Hills Market Downtown on Thursday March 12th from 6-8pm. Three are out of Mendocino, one from the Sonoma Coast, and the final out of the Napa Valley. She will be on hand to answer any questions about the wines and their production. Each of the wines will also be available for purchase. Hills downtown will offer charcuterie, cheese, and other antipasto out to pair with these delicious wines.

Tickets will be sold in advance for $25. Hope to see you there for this rare opportunity!

The five wines Alicia will be pouring are:

Sauvignon Blanc, Mendocino, 2018 ($14.99) Taste the balance between ripeness of the fruit and bright acidity from these organically farmed Mendocino grapes. Sweet citrus, ripe stone fruit, slate, and minerality fill out this delicious wine.

Rose of Grenache, Mendocino, 2019 ($29.99) Available for retail only for a short time! Gorgeous, bright, medium pink in color. Raspberry, ripe strawberry, and lilac on the nose. The palate comes through with cherry, guava, strawberry and Honeycrisp apple. Hand picked and whole cluster pressed. The granache vineyard has been owned by the same family for almost 100 years. Locate on a southwestern facing slope along the Talmage Bench east of Ukiah in Mendocino County. The perfect spring and summer wine.

Grenache, Mendocino, 2016 ($24.99) Made in a style similar to that coming from the Rhone, however with a lot of California fruit. A juicy snap and a stony vigor. Look for strawberries, spicy red currants, and cherries. Best served slightly chilled on a hot summer evening or paired with fall dishes. 14.5% alcohol.

Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, 2016 (S34.99) Grown in the temperate conditions of the Petaluma Gap which allows for a complex and well structured Pinot Noir. Earthy and layered. Loads of black cherry. Followed by strawberry and pomegranate then made complicated by mushroom, spice, and orange oil.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, 2016 ($44.99) Blended from select vineyards of Elizabeth Spencer’s grower partners in the finest Napa appellations to represent how they see the valley as a whole. This Cabernet is balanced and approachable even its youth. A core of black raspberry and dark plum accentuated by savory herb, cocoa powder and cigar box. This is a focused Cabernet with exceptional food pairing ability.
