Craft Beer and Spirits are booming in Central Ohio today however our community suffered a long dry spell even before prohibition. Westerville in particular started on the path of temperance early and finished very late (2006). Today, Westerville’s temperance has ended with the recent addition of several craft beverage destinations. On this tour we share the origins of the Temperance Movement (we can blame Ohio), the Westerville Whiskey Wars (including some bombings), the Anti-Saloon League and Ohio’s leadership of and quick path to national prohibition. As we explore Uptown Westerville and Temperance Row, we will visit and sample at several craft destinations to see what they are bringing to the table today. Our stops include Meza Wine Shop, Good Vibes Winery, Asterisk Supper Club, and Temperance Row Brewing/Uptown Deli. All that and a donut from iconic Schneider’s Bakery.
This tour is priced at $55.00 and includes tastings of a variety of beverages and/or snacks at four locations, a guide with extensive local history knowledge and craft beverage expertise. This walking tour lasts up to 3.5 hours and includes a leisurely one mile stroll.
