An upcoming 4-H Special Interest SPIN Club will focus on Polar Science and will be held at the Kunz-Brundige Franklin County Extension Building at 2548 Carmack Road on the OSU campus.

The polar mystery SPIN Club for youth in grades 6-8 will meet Wednesdays, October 6, 13, 20, 27 and November 3 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The club is free but special considerations apply as this is a project funded by a National Science Foundation grant. The club is a joint project between Franklin County 4-H, the Byrd Polar Climate Change and Research Center, and collaborators at Rutgers University. To register:

4-H SPIN Clubs are SPecial INterest opportunities for K-12 youth who want to focus on just one topic in a short-term club. Some SPIN Clubs take place within an existing school, afterschool, or similar program, and some are held at other locations. 4-H SPIN Clubs can be virtual or in-person and meet for a total of six hours or more for a set number of weeks. There are no dues or elected officers, but there may be a small materials fee. Topics might include cooking, gardening, art, poetry, rocketry, dance, photography, geology, genealogy, computer science, polar science, travel and more. 4-H SPIN Clubs are taught by 4-H Extension personnel, trained 4-H volunteers, teachers, 4-H members, and others with a passion for and knowledge of a topic.
