Thurber House Summer Literary Picnics: Anietra Hamper

June 13, 2018 5:30 pm @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Each summer, the Thurber House lawn plays host to a series of outdoor literary picnics and readings with authors who have an Ohio connection. Join us for this long-running tradition of good friends, good food, and great books!

What do trash-eating pigs have to do with modern-day conveniences like the city landfill? How did the Short North arts district get its name? Columbus native Anietra Hamper is an award-winning travel writer, photographer, and owner of ThreeWordPress. Her travels take her around the world covering destinations, adventure travel, and fishing for regional and national publications. Her new book, Secret Columbus: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure, is a journey of awe-inspiring moments combined with exciting knowledge about Ohio’s capital city.

Anietra Hamper spent nearly 20 years as a top-rated television news anchor and Emmy nominated investigative reporter. She is a recipient of the YWCA Women of Achievement Award, Jefferson Award, and Congressional Award.

Picnicking begins at 5:30, and the program will start at 6:45.

Menu: Thai Chicken Wrap; Asian Broccoli Salad with Almonds, Sunflower Seeds, Green Onions, and Ramen Noodles; White Chocolate/Macadamia Nut Cookie.

Time/Location: 5:30 or 6:45 pm at Thurber House, 77 Jefferson Ave.
