Featuring the Southside Reeb Avenue Center’s Boys & Girls Club, Thiossane West African Dance Institute, the Lincoln Theatre “Expand Your Horizon” Incubation Program, and local choirs and singers, “The Journey” spans 200 years of African-American history and culture with performances of African drums, spirituals, gospel songs, and music from the Harlem Renaissance. Universal in its emotional and musical appeal, this concert showcases a rich body of work passed down through oral history. The Journey aims to share the African-American experience with audiences of all ages, races, and religions.
