Over these past few years, Sharon Udoh of Counterfeit Madison has taken note of two things: that white Americans (in general) don’t particularly love talking about themselves as white people, and that Americans (again, in general) don’t do a great job of reckoning with our individual pasts. In this project, Sharon asks simple questions of herself, and also of some white people from the community, enabling us all to reflect on how we’ve changed over time, where we are in our journeys of understanding our identities, and how we can continue the process of interrogating and discovering ourselves.
As with the first episode, a pre-recorded conversation will be followed by a livestream Q&A. Episode 1 was amazing. I highly recommend it: https://wexarts.org/artist-talks/counterfeit-madison
