We won’t spoil all the tour’s surprises, but expect to see both unique original features as well as lots of modern updates. Interesting finds include a Sears catalog home, a working phone booth converted to a wine cabinet, a walkout basement art studio, and a vaulted Zen room. And it’s not just the homes, the gardens are a must see! This year’s tour is jam packed with sights and ideas for both seasoned and aspiring gardeners. Highlights include a mini-greenhouse, a garden that is a certified wildlife habitat, a birdwatcher’s oasis, and a reimagined use for the “green roof” concept.
The tour, in its ninth year, embodies the spirit of the Westgate Neighbors Association and the growing focus on building a more connected community by supporting resident-inspired initiatives like the Westgate Farmers Market, Friends of Westgate Park, Westgate Food Trucks Line Up, the Columbus Westside Running Club, and Westgate Brews.
The 2019 Westgate Home & Garden Tour is Saturday, June 8th, from 2 – 6 p.m. Registration is at The Westgate Lodge (2925 West Broad Street). Advance tickets are $12 and available at Third Way Cafe (3058 W Broad St.) and at the Westgate Farmers Market Saturday June 1st from 9a-1p. On the day of the tour, tickets are $15 and can only be purchased at the registration tent.
