Special Report: Un-Conventional Time for Tourism, Entertainment, and Arts

Experience Columbus was reporting record convention and visitor business at its annual meeting on March 4. Attendees that night were shocked, confused, and skeptical to learn that that very day Governor Mike DeWine had closed the Arnold Classic exhibition and forbade spectators at the competitions. Ironically, opening night for “My Fair Lady,” was also CAPA’s closing night of public performances, as the next day the Governor limited gatherings to no more than 10 people.

Theaters and museums closed. Live musical performances, the Columbus Arts Festival, Red, White & Boom, and countless other events and festivals — have all been cancelled, postponed or optimistically rescheduled. These industries depend on ticket sales and bed taxes. How are they adapting and surviving in the short run and what is the plan for bringing them back?

Industry leaders Brian Ross, President & CEO, Experience Columbus, and Chad Whittington, President & CEO, CAPA, will discuss their reality and optimism with host Colleen Marshall, Co-Anchor, WCMH-NBC4.
