Songwriter Showcase: JD Hutchison, Megan Bee, Bruce Dalzell

August 30, 2018 9:00 pm @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Songwriter Showcase at Natalie’s presents JD Hutchison, Megan Bee, and Bruce Dalzell in concert. Hosted by Eric Gnezda, this series, held the last Thursday of each month, features the finest regional and national singer-songwriters, from Grammy and Kerrville winners to the best emerging artists. They perform “in-the-round,” representing a wide range of styles.

JD HUTCHISON is a native of southeastern Ohio and is recognized throughout the country as a leading exponent of Appalachian guitar styles and culture. His engaging personality, laid-back style, and quick wit are why audiences return to “experience” his work. A multifaceted performer, JD has appeared in films, television and stage productions from coast to coast. Many nationally known artists have recorded his songs, including K.T. Oslin, and Tim O’Brien, who produced his latest album, You and the World Outside.

MEGAN BEE writes with an unquenchable wanderlust and a raw love for the land. Her latest studio album, Like a Canyon (2017), claims both The Ohio Music Awards 2017 Best Americana and Best Singer-Songwriter Album. With folk-Americana roots, she blends a distinctly homespun voice over an acoustic simplicity. “Bee’s latest album feels like a drive through the area’s modest hills, sipping well water from a tin dipper to take away the taste of those dusty roads.” (No Depression magazine)

BRUCE DALZELL is the patriarch of the Athens music scene. He is a craftsman, constructing delicate and thoughtful folk tunes that cut through all the pretense of the modern music industry to hit listeners at their core. Although his catalogue of tunes is not without dark or mournful underpinnings, his songs always glow out of that dark night, with soft but steady warmth. Among his many credits are appearances on West Virginia’s National Public Radio show, Mountain Stage with Larry Groce.

Host ERIC GNEZDA is also the creator of the American Public Television series, Songs at the Center, now syndicated to more than 170 stations coast-to-coast. A regular performer at Nashville’s famous venue for songwriters, The Bluebird Café, Eric was awarded the Ohioana Citation for Music Composition in 2006. His latest CD is Songs of Hope in a Changing World.
