Walk where the elephants roamed: Sellsville is one of our city’s most interesting and misunderstood areas. Join us for a walking tour of the site that once was the winter headquarters of the Sells Circus, one of America’s largest circuses. The evolution of this neighborhood – from Weisheimer Mill to the Lennox Town Center – will be explored. You will gain an understanding of the rich tapestry that includes the township, railroads, elephant tamers, early African American-owned farms, river baptisms, football parking wars, and more. Conrade Hinds, author of the recently released Lost Circuses of Ohio and past Columbus Landmarks Trustee, will join Doreen Uhas Sauer to help lead the tour. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
