VSA Ohio presents ReelAbilities Film Festival Columbus at the Gateway Film Center with FREE screenings of “Nise: the Heart of Madness” by director Roberto Berliner of Brazil. — An indomitable psychiatrist refuses to employ electroshock therapy, initiating an art therapy revolution and confronting Brazil’s mental health establishment. Based on a true story.
10:30am – Matinee film screening
6:00pm – PopUp Art Gallery by Fresh A.I.R. artists and social hour in the lobby
7:00pm – Film screening
No reservations necessary but accepted via Gateway Film Center.
In conjunction with this film we will also offer FREE community outreach at Flux+Flow in Clintonville:
1.) Meditation workshop series: (3) Saturdays, May 12th, 19th, 26th from 4:30-5:30pm – we will explore metta, yoga nidra, and yogic breathing to foster good will toward ourselves and others.
2.) Make Marks / Moves: Friday, May 25th from 6:00-8:00pm – fun with self-expression through movement improvisation, voice, and mark-making on paper.
3.) Take HeART visual art exhibit by Fresh A.I.R. artists on display at Flux+Flow gallery May 1- July 29 with an Opening Reception Saturday, May 12 6:00-7:30pm.
