Paisha Thomas Band with special guest Stan Smith

September 5, 2018 9:00 pm @ 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

The talented Paisha Thomas returns to Natalie’s along with her special guest Stan Smith (guitar) and band, featuring Dwight Bailey (bass) and James Gaiters (drums). Paisha is a locally based entertainer who engages others through art mostly by her singing and songwriting. She creates music about love, politics, self-discovery, and the condition of the world. Her first (eponymous) album was released last year, and she has shared the stage with Ruthie Foster, Phil Clark, and Jesse Henry, among others. Paisha hosts and coordinates the evening “Soul Sunday” series at Natalie’s.

Guitarist, composer, bandleader Stan Smith studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and later moved to L.A. where he studied and performed with Brazilian composer Moacir Santos. Since returning to Ohio, Smith has been a part of the Columbus music scene as a performer and a member of Capital University’s Conservatory of Music. James Gaiters has appeared with many of the world’s greatest artists, been a featured performer with Wynton Marsalis, and has received accolades the world over. James’ powerfully musical voice has also led to nationally and internationally televised features on BET on Jazz, and he has been featured on some of the world’s greatest jazz festivals. Dwight Bailey has performed on some of the most prestigious platforms in music, such as the Monterey Bay Blues/Jazz Festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival, The London Jazz Festival, Carnegie Hall and the Primavera Music Festival, to name a few. He has also held down the low end for artists like the Blind Boys of Alabama and 6-time Grammy Award Winner Dr. John.
