Mary Chamberlain: Oil Paintings

September 28 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 8:00 am on Saturday, repeating until September 30, 2019 12:00 am

Athens, Ohio artist Mary Chamberlain exhibits a selection of her oil paintings at Highline Coffee Art Space in Worthington, September 3-30, 2019.

Chamberlain’s inspiration for her work comes from small towns and rural areas, including vintage homes, barns, and the picturesque Appalachian landscape. Her paintings emphasize color and texture, providing a fresh perspective on the subject matter that she loves.

“As a young woman growing up in the suburbs of Virginia, my creative passions were sparked on visits to the nearby countryside, where I discovered old houses, barns, and buildings,” Chamberlain explains. “I fell in love with all the elements of these regions and have been exploring them through oil painting ever since. I believe that every structure has its own story to tell and by spending time with it, as I layer rich colors of oil paint with my palette knife, the story emerges onto the canvas.”

Earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from James Madison University in Virginia, Chamberlain moved to southeast Ohio in 1993, where she continues to exhibit her work in several juried solo and group shows in the area as well as local galleries and shops, including the Dairy Barn Art Center in Athens and the Parkersburg Arts Center in West Virginia.
