    Leap Day 2020 Event Roundup

    How are you spending the extra day of the year? Saturday, February 29 is such a special day that local businesses are celebrating in a variety of ways, including one true to 30 Rock’s Leap Day tradition.

    2nd Quadrennial Leap Day in Grandview – Drink Up Columbus’ Leap Day event features rhubarb cocktails and rhubarb-infused beers, Leap Day William and people in yellow and blue, aka all of the fake Leap Day traditions the writers of 30 Rock could come up with.

    The day includes a screening of 30 Rock’s “Leap Day” episode, a raffle, snacks, adoptable Leap Dogs and more, all in support of the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center.

    This is a ticketed event taking place at the Grandview Theater & Drafthouse, 1247 Grandview Ave. at 2:30 p.m. More info here.

    Leap Day Bell’s Brewery Hoppy Beer Tasting – House Wine in Worthington celebrates Leap Day with a beer tasting with Kalamazoo-based Bell’s Brewery, featuring their classic brews and some new favorites. House Wine is located at 644 High St. in Worthington. More info here.

    Extra Day to Play – Have an afternoon of fun at the arcade! A local realtor hosts a free event at Old North Arcade featuring food, drinks, games and giveaways. The event takes place 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Old North Arcade, 2591 N High St. More info here.

    Adult Date Night: Gourmet S’mores and Night Hike – This singles-welcome date night will feature gourmet s’mores recipes and an optional night hike. The event is free, 18 and over, and taking place at Highbanks Metro Park, 9466 Columbus Pike at the northern shelter. S’mores begins at 6:30 p.m. and the hike starts at 7 p.m. More info here.

    Leap Day at Combustion – Combustion Brewery & Taproom hosts a Leap Day event of its own, featuring food from Cousins Maine Lobster at 3 p.m. and live music from Willie Nelson Mandela starting at 7 p.m. Celebrate with Combustion at 80 W. Church St. in Pickerington. More info here.

    Dance Party with Restart – Featuring music by Restart, the dance party at Sporeprint Infoshop, 979 E. Fifth Ave., starts at 9 p.m. and is BYOB. Get info here.

    Lucky Leap Day Sip & Shop – Shelly Lou’s Lids’ pre-St. Patrick’s Day event will feature Irish-themed apparel, gifts and more from nearly a dozen vendors. It’s happening at Grove City Brewing Company, 3946 Broadway in  Grove City, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More info here.

    Just Love Coffee Cafe Leap of Love Grand Opening Benefiting RMHC Just Love Coffee celebrates its grand opening on this Leap Day, in an event benefitting the Ronald McDonald House. “Leap of Love” takes place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature a prize wheel, raffle, games and more.
