In the Kitchen with Mark Tinus! Mixology: Create Your Own Craft Cocktails

February 22 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

how to mix great cocktails

Join us for a very special cocktail party!

Learn to mix, muddle, shake and stir like a pro while you create your own signature cocktail(s) under the tutelage of spirits expert Mark Tinus of Simple Times Mixers. Discover how to blend and balance flavors, select just the right alcohol and ratio, seasonal ingredients and garnishes to perfectly complement your creation. This isn’t your conventional cocktail class, you get to be creative and custom-build the perfect drink to your specific tastes!

A variety of juices, herbal infusions, mixers, fruits and herbs along with Watershed Distillery vodka, whiskey, and gin, as well as a few local beers, will be available for you to craft up to three unique cocktails of your very own, including non-alcoholic mocktails, if you want. And Mark will be there to guide you every step of the way!

At the end of class, share your creations with your fellow newly-minted mixologist friends and enjoy a selection of hors d’oeuvres by Chef DeJa Johnson of Blue’s Private Chef & Catering, LLC and 1400 Food Lab’s popular charcuterie and cheese board.

Lemon-Poached Shrimp with House-made Cocktail Sauce & Garlic Aioli

Selection of cured meats, artisan cheese, pickles & olives, roasted nuts, fresh fruits & vegetables, mustards & jam

With a lengthy background in the beverage industry, including stints with Bacardi, Anheuser-Busch, Heineken and others, Mark Tinus started his own liquor business, Karate Cowboy, in 2015. After falling in love with the cocktail, he knew his next venture had to be building the other side of the drink with all-natural cocktail mixers. Simple Times Mixers was launched at the end of 2017. Columbus magazine, The Metropreneur, named Simple Times as a Top 10 Start-Up in 2018. The products can be found in restaurants, bars, and supermarkets throughout Ohio and extending nationwide online. Mark believes that drinks, as with his take on life, should be artfully crafted but not taken too seriously!

DeJa Johnson of Blue’s Private Chef & Catering, LLC (aka Chef Blue) has been a culinary professional for over a decade, but he’s had a passion for cooking all his life. He is dynamic in the kitchen and a delight to interact with, as he cooks and discusses the food he prepares at 1400 Food Lab classes and events, off site catering, and in the homes of his clients.

A minimum of 10 registrants are required for this class. All ticket purchases must be made prior to 5:00 PM, February 20, 2019. No refunds or cancellations after February 18th. If you are unable to attend, tickets are transferable to other individuals with notice to 1400 Food Lab at 614-636-3164. Tickets are NOT transferable to different events.
