Hypotheses: Art Inspired by the Many Worlds of Science Artists

September 28, 2018 6:00 pm @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

In April, the Columbus Cultural Arts Center (CAC) put out a public call asking Ohio artists to submit works for consideration for Hypotheses: Art Inspired by the Many Worlds of Science, an exhibition exploring how concepts and discoveries from all branches of science inspire the creation of art. CAC challenged Ohio artists 18 and older to submit works that visually represent this theme. Works could be 2-D, 3-D, or media based art forms that fit within the gallery’s limitations.

Following the Aug. 16 submission deadline, the exhibition jurors – Paul M. Sutter, Astrophysicist, The Ohio State University and Chief Scientist, COSI Science Center with Amy M. Youngs, Associate Professor of Art at The Ohio State University – selected works to be featured in the show. With 278 artworks submitted by 163 artists, the exhibition will showcase 43 pieces by 35 artists. Guest curated by artist Amandda Tirey, Hypotheses will be on view Sept. 28 – Nov. 10. The winners of the jurors’ awards, sponsored by CoverMyMeds, will be announced during the opening reception on Fri., Sept. 28 from 6-9 p.m.
