Holiday Poetry Reading + Open Mic at Seventh Son

Let’s get together and toast the holiday season with poems and stories. We’ll have three featured readers, a couple special guests and an open mic. Free! We will collecting $ for local literacy charity. It’s the HOLS! So come with your words. Come thirsty. Come ready to read. I love you. xo ATS

Darren C. Demaree
Darren C. Demaree is living in Columbus, Ohio with his wife and children. He is the author of nine poetry collections. He is the recipient of a 2018 Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award. He is also the winner of the Louise Bogan Award from Trio House Press, the Nancy Dew Taylor Award from Emrys Journal, and the recipient of ten Pushcart Prize nominations. Currently, he is the Managing Editor of the Best of the Net Anthology and Ovenbird Poetry.

Fariha Tayyab
Fariha is an artist and global nomad currently residing in Columbus, Ohio by way of Houston, Texas. As writer, educator, and photographer, she is known for her badassery as a social justice activist. In this way, Fariha remains committed to resistance by storytelling through her writing and photography.
With a degree in Arts in Creative Writing from the U. Houston, Fariha has received awards for her written work, and continues to perform poetry including winning first place at a university poetry slam. This year, she is working on a compilation of resistance poems, and has been published in Brown Girl Magazine, The Tempest, and other publications.

Samantha Tucker
Samantha Tucker is a Colorado native and a Target-frequenting anti-Capitalist . She currently lives in Columbus, Ohio, where she just completed her MFA in Creative Writing at Ohio State University. Sam has written for Ecotone, Bust, The American Literary Review, The Toast, and Guernica. Her essay “Fountain Girls” is a listed notable in Best American Essays 2017. In second grade, Sam wrote, illustrated, and self-published a biography about Big Foot, and then the author proceeded to graduate from the MA Nonfiction program at Colorado State University (2014). Sam’s first collection of essays, The American Dream Starts Here, is ready for a publisher.

J. Lauren Lax
J. Lauren Lax studied creative writing at Ohio University under the guidance of Dan Chaon, Joan Connor and Gail Regier. Her writing has appeared in ArtSpike and Connotation Press. Lauren stays active in the creative and performing arts community of Maysville, KY, where she currently resides with her husband

Amy will read a few new poems too.
