Friends of Goodale Park Holiday Gala

Goodale Park was donated to the City of Columbus almost 160 years ago. It takes a lot of love to care for its 32.7 acres, which is what Friends of Goodale Park has done since 1987. On Wednesday night from 6:00 to 9:00, you can support this hardworking nonprofit organization by attending the Friends of Goodale Park Holiday Gala.

Hosted by Herb Asher, this year’s gala takes place at 34 West Poplar Avenue, #501 in the Short North. Hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be donated by Short North eateries and a silent auction featuring paintings, photographs, jewelry, sculptures, and gift certificates will be donated by local artists and merchants. No reservations are necessary and it costs $40 per person to attend. All ticket sales benefit enhancements to Goodale Park, and any donations above $40 can be claimed as a tax deduction.

The most recognized current park project is the new fountain, construction of which began this month. During the gala, Friends of Goodale Park members will sell raffle tickets for the chance to “Flip the Switch” and illuminate the fountain. Other recent Friends of Goodale Park activities include flower, plant, and tree planting; refurbishing the historic southeast gate; building the new southeast entrance; and improving the playground area.
