Free to Ride: A community Screening

November 14 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

  • Sumo

Please join Empowerbus as we partner with The Kind Elephant and Zora’s House for a free community screening of the film Free To Ride, a documentary produced by The Ohio State University’s Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity.

This powerful documentary highlights the struggle of Dayton residents to gain access to jobs by bus to the neighboring suburb of Beavercreek. This clash between neighborhoods brought light to issues of resistance faced by those in the affordable transportation and opportunity equity communities across the country.

Free to Ride will be introduced by the film’s producer and former Kirwan Institute Senior Researcher Matthew Martin, and a panel discussion will follow.

6:25pm Opening Remarks

6:30-7:30pm Viewing of Free to Ride

7:30-8:20pm Reaction, Panel, Q&A, Closing Remarks

Panel Participants: Matthew Martin, Film Producer, and LC Johnson, YWCA Director of Leadership and Social Justice Programs and Founder of Zora’s House, and Aslyne Rodriguez, Co-Founder and CEO of Empowerbus.
