Free Concert: Westerville Symphony Sounds of Summer

The Westerville Symphony at Otterbein University celebrates the dog days of summer with its Sounds of Summer concert on Sunday, August 18th at 6:30 pm. The free concert takes place at the Amphitheater at Alum Creek Park and is part of the Westerville Community Concert series. Unfortunately, as previously listed, Kathryn Sullivan is unable to join us for this concert.

This year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing by featuring music about space.

The Westerville Symphony at Otterbein University is excited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing with music about outer space. The Sounds of Summer concert is free and takes place on Sunday, August 18th at 6:30 pm at the Amphitheater at Alum Creek Park. This concert is part of the Westerville Community Concert series.

The music for the evening will revolve around pieces depicting space. Movements from Gustav Holst The Planets, and movie music including John William’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind and James Horner’s Music from Apollo 13 will be performed. Other selections include Take Flight by Robert Wendel and Alexander Courage’s Star Trek Through the Years.
