The Ohio Arts Council’s Riffe Gallery presents Expanded Dimensions: The Quilt & Surface Design Symposium 2020, Nov. 5 , 2020 – Jan. 9, 2021. The Quilt & Surface Design Symposium strives to present one of the most comprehensive art quilt conferences in the world, offering a wide variety of fiber arts classes and highly qualified instructors. The exhibition was curated by Tracy Rieger.

Featured artists include Sue Benner, Susan Callahan, Sue Cavanaugh (Columbus), Jiyoung Chung, Deborah Griffing (Sunbury), Amanda McCavour, Andrea Myers (Columbus), Diane Nunez, Judy Rush (Bexley), and Mary Ann Tipple (Elyria).

Curator’s Tour with Tracy Rieger
Saturday, Nov. 7, 1 – 2 p.m.
Tracy Rieger, director of the Quilt and Surface Design Symposium, will virtually lead guests through a tour of the exhibition and will share her curatorial process. This event will be livestreamed on the Riffe Gallery Facebook page.

Friends and Family Workshop with Sue Cavanaugh
Saturday, Dec. 5, 1 – 2 p.m.
Artist Sue Cavanaugh uses a variety of sustainable practices in creating her artwork and will virtually lead participants through her process of reclaiming, re-imagining, and reusing common household items for artistic material. Participants will create dolls, toys, and mobiles with items they’ve sourced from their very own homes in this family-friendly workshop. Registration required.

Creative Writing Workshop with Suann Moeller
Thursday, Jan. 7, 5:30 – 8 p.m.
Participants will explore poetic expansion in this educational workshop inspired by the colors, textures, and shapes of the work in the exhibition. Registration required.
Virtual Artist Talks

Join artists as they livestream artist talks from the Riffe Gallery and share their creative journeys, processes, and inspirations. These events can be accessed through the Riffe Gallery Facebook page.

The Ohio Arts Council’s Riffe Gallery showcases the work of Ohio’s artists and the collections of the state’s museums and galleries. The Riffe Gallery is located in the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts, 77 S. High St., Columbus, OH 43215.
