The Drexel is happy to announce: that on Thursday, May 27, our iconic marquee will be lit, the popcorn will flow, and the doors will open wide once again as the Drexel Theatre finally reopens!
This will be a phased reopening, initially offering just four showings per day, Thursday through Sunday only. We will utilize just two theatres at 25% of capacity, so we strongly encourage you to pre-purchase tickets online. Tickets can also be purchased at the door if still available. Masks will be required unless actively eating in the theatres, and congregating in the lobby will not be permitted.
We’ve upgraded our HVAC with state-of-the-art ionization and air filtration systems, installed hand sanitization stations outside each theatre, and constructed plexiglass barriers at the concession stand. Be assured the health and safety of our patrons and staff is our top priority!
Programming will continue to focus on independent art house films with select family friendly and blockbuster entertainment carefully curated throughout. In addition, we’re working on several repertory programs with classic films, film festival selections, and yes, the return of The Room.
Opening weekend will offer A Quiet Place Part II, Dream Horse, Nomadland, and Minari. Coming June 11, the Drexel will offer In the Heights, the big screen adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s 2005 Tony and Grammy Award-winning Broadway musical.
