Columbus Mentoring Alliance for a special Recruitment Toolkit Training Session

January 9 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

  • Sumo

Season’s Greetings Community Leaders:

We know that mentorship from caring adults is an immediate way to positively change the trajectory of young people’s lives and improve the quality of life in our city. Each of us can attest to the ways in which mentors have helped shape who we are. Yet, too many of our young people today need additional support to fully realize a life of their choosing.

To address this gap and enlist more mentors for our existing and forthcoming efforts, Columbus City Schools and Columbus City Council established the Columbus Mentoring Alliance. In conjunction with National Mentor Month, we are launching a major annual mentor recruitment campaign in January 2018 to:

Develop and promote a robust culture of mentorship in Columbus;
Increase the number of Columbus adults who serve as mentors for young people;
Connect existing and new programs to develop a network of mentorship experiences; and
Identify more spaces where quality mentorship experiences can occur.
Accomplishing these goals takes a coordinated and concentrated effort from mentorship providers, organizations who support mentorship, and current, future, and former mentors. Please join the Columbus Mentoring Alliance for a special Recruitment Toolkit Training Session on Tuesday, January 9th from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at:

The Jerry Hammond Center
Continental Room, Lower Level
1111 East Broad Street, 43205

Mentorship is a powerful tool that can strengthen individuals, families, communities, and our city because it builds up our young people. For this reason, it is critical that we create a culture of mentorship in Columbus, which requires commitment and collaboration. Know that we are committed to working alongside you to increase access to quality mentoring experiences for our young people. It is the right thing to do and each of us can and should play a role in shaping our collective future through this work.

Please share this invite with your networks as we need all hands on deck to make this campaign a success. To RSVP, please visit https://cmatoolkittraining.eventbrite.com.

Yours in service,
Dr. Dan Good, Columbus City Schools Superintendent/CEO
Andrew J. Ginther, Columbus Mayor
Shannon G. Hardin, Columbus City Council Member
