CMC: Canine Comfort: Buckeye Paws’ Curative Role

July 28 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Right when they needed it most, we were told to “social distance” from the front line responders who were facing their most stressful days caring for those with COVID. But, at OSU Wexner Medical Center, a new type of “co-worker” (of the four legged variety) was stepping in to provide care, comfort and companionship. Join us to learn how Buckeye Paws was a bright light for nursing staff and patients during a dark time, and how their program continues to strengthen resilience of staff members and how it is supporting and reaching increasing numbers of the OSU community….including the football team! Shiloh, a therapy dog ambassador and his team will visit with attendees as well.

Featuring Rustin Moore, DMV, Ph.D., Diplomate ACVS, Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine, Ruth Stanton Chair in Veterinary Medicine, The Ohio State University; Nechelle Marlowe, RN, BSN, Nurse Manager, OSU Wexner Medical Center; and Bernadette Melnyk, Ph.D., APRN-CNP, FAANP, FNAP, FAAN, Vice President for Health Promotion, University Chief Wellness Officer, Professor and Dean of the College of Nursing at The Ohio State University and professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at Ohio State’s College of Medicine with host Gail Hogan, journalist.
