Cheese Making with Abbe Turner of Lucky Penny Farm

DESCRIPTION
We are thrilled to host Abbe Turner, owner and cheesemaker of Lucky Penny Farm, for this cheese making class for beginners! Abbe will share her expertise through this hands-on class making some of our favorite cheeses:

Mozzarella
with pesto and prosciutto roll

Ricotta
with lemon and bruschetta

Goat Cheeseball
with edible flowers served on crostini

After the class, indulge in a complimentary wine pairing with our freshly made cheeses, as well as a selection of Lucky Penny cheeses and products, as she shares her passion for making the gap between farm to table smaller.

Bonus: Abbe is also a oenologist and certified viticulturalist. During our wine-and-cheese social, she’ll share her experiences from the vineyards and her recommendations for wine and cheese pairings.

ABOUT THE MAKER:

Abbe studied her craft at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable Agriculture. She also honed her skills under dairy consultants Peter Dixon and Neville McNaughton.

A Slow Food Terra Madre Delegate, Abbe was selected to represent the Cleveland Slow Food Convivium in Turin, Italy in 2008 — the same year her Cajeta (traditional Mexican caramel dessert sauce made from goat milk) earned second place in the American Dairy Goat Association’s Amateur Confection Contest. In 2012, Abbe introduced Lucky Penny Cajeta nationally at the Fancy Food Show in Washington, DC.
