Candidate Forum for Columbus City Schools Board

October 22 @ 10:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Who: Clintonville Go Public, Columbus Urban League, the League of Women Voters, and Southside STAY
have joined together to sponsor a school board candidate forum to help voters more fully engage in
vetting and electing their Columbus City school board. All candidates currently on the ballot have
confirmed their attendance.

What: Angela Pace, 10TV’s Director of Community Affairs, will moderate the forum, designed to:
1. Heighten awareness and understanding of the critical issues confronting Columbus City Schools.
2. Ensure more information and discussion about board candidates’ qualifications and policy positions.
3. Increase public engagement in the electoral process to elect the best qualified board members.

When: Tuesday, October 22 from 6:00-7:30 pm

Where: Columbus Downtown High School, 365 S. 4th Street

Why:
On November 5th, Columbus will elect five of the seven members that comprise the board. Columbus
City Schools (CCS) is the largest district in the state of Ohio. Yet, in the last two CCS school board election
cycles, the participation rate for all eligible voters has averaged only 16% in the general election.
