January 31 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

One event on January 31, 2021 12:00 am at 5:30 pm

This year, we are moving our annual benefit event online! In 2021, we will be fundraising for the cause of infant and maternal mortality. Franklin County, where Columbus is located, has averaged over seven deaths per 1000 births for the past decade. Ohio overall is the 39th ranked state in the US in infant mortality. In fact, our infant mortality rate is significantly higher than average for what the UN terms “more developed nations.”
Join us on January 26 to learn about racial and socioeconomic disparities in infant mortality rates. We will be delving into a variety of perspectives on infant and maternal mortality in the US and in Ohio by watching and discussing a variety of short video clips.
All funds will be donated to Moms2B, an organization which works to prevent at-risk mothers from losing their children, and provide education and healthcare support. We will be hosting Jamie Sager and Dr. Kamilah Dixon-Shambley of Moms2B the evening of Thursday, January 28th to learn about combating and preventing infant mortality.
