On Gallery Hop Saturday, join us as visitors celebrate art throughout the evening with new gallery exhibitions, street performers, special events, food, and drinks throughout the District. With dozens of galleries and non-traditional exhibit spaces, it’s Columbus’ favorite night of the month to celebrate art.
Brandt-Roberts Galleries will feature new work by Gabriel Gaffney Smith, a Columbus-based professional dancer, choreographer, musician, and visual artist. Smith’s non-objective wood relief works will include a custom animation component by digital video artists Charles Erickson and Donnie Mossman for Gallery Hop.
Featuring 6 PLUS 1, on view until April 22. Join Hammond Harkins Galleries for an exhibition of new works by six gallery artists and “plus 1” by Melissa Vogley Woods. Vogley Woods, who is new to Hammond Harkins Galleries, will transform the back of the gallery with an installation of new paintings and contemporary scagliola sculptures. Scagliola, a plastering technique that simulates the look and feel of marble, involves a guarded recipe that has been passed down from master to student for centuries. The artist recently returned from Italy where she met with master craftsmen and formulated ideas for new work. Stop in and experience this multifaceted exhibit including scagliola sculptures by one of Columbus’ own artists.
