17TH ANNUAL TASTE TO REMEMBER

May 16 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

• WHAT: 17th Annual Taste to Remember Columbus
• WHEN: Thursday, May 16, 2019, from 6 PM to 8 PM
• WHERE: The Exchange at 6520 Riverside Dr., Dublin
• WHY: To provide meals to the 1 in 5 hungry children in Ohio

Children’s Hunger Alliance is proud to announce the 17th annual Taste to Remember event, taking place at The Exchange, located in Dublin’s Bridge Park neighborhood, on Thursday, May 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event will feature 20 tasting stations offering signature dishes and beverages from local chefs and brewers. Guests are invited to sample the assortment and vote for their favorite station. The team behind the winning station will be recognized with the Golden Spoon award during the event.
Money raised at the event will help close the hunger gap in Columbus this summer for the 1 in 5 children impacted by food insecurity. Last year, a portion of the funds raised at the event went toward a summer pilot program in Columbus that provided meals to over 700 children at four meal sites. Based on the positive results of the pilot, Children’s Hunger Alliance plans to continue operating the summer nutrition program in collaboration with Columbus Recreation and Parks, Columbus City Schools, St. Vincent Family Center, The Ohio State University and many other community partners.
President and CEO, Judy Mobley said, “The children we serve rely on their schools to provide breakfast and lunch, but in the summer that food safety net is gone. Only 10% of children who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals have access to summer meals, which is why providing more summer meal sites is critical. Unfortunately, Ohio ranks 37th nationally in the summer meal program so we have a lot of children that still need our help.”
Close to 400 guests are expected to attend this year’s event. Amelia Jeffers, Sophisticated Living Publisher, will serve as the mistress of ceremonies and will also conduct the live auction which will include a romantic hot air balloon ride, OSU tailgate experience, and many more great packages.
The Kroger Co., this year’s presenting sponsor, will be one of the featured food stations and will have a representative discussing the importance of uniting with organizations committed to ending hunger in the community. Some of the other food stations include Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, Eddie Merlot, McCormick and Schmicks, and many more.
Founded in 1970, Children’s Hunger Alliance is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger in Ohio. Through their work, Children’s Hunger Alliance provides healthy meals and snacks to hungry children, advocates for the welfare of Ohio’s youngest citizens and teaches nutrition and physical education to those they serve.
