Eat Purr Love Cat Cafe Closes Clintonville Location

After nearly four years in business in Clintonville, the owners of the Eat Purr Love Cat Cafe announced last week that they will not be re-opening their doors at 3041 Indianola Ave. The business closed temporarily in March at the outset of the coronavirus pandemic and they are opting to let their lease expire in June.

“It is time for us to close our doors while we pursue a location with more foot traffic, better parking and a food license to further enhance the customer experience,” stated a post on the cafe’s Facebook page.

The space was opened by Chrissy Kuras in 2016 as Columbus’ first cat cafe, providing a fun place to grab coffee and pet some cats while considering adoption if you wanted to take a new friend home with you. Kuras moved out of state and operations were taken over by Columbus Humane in 2018.

All staff from Eat Purr Love has been retained through June as the search continues for a new home for the business. The Eat Purr Love website outlines some of the criteria they are looking for in a new location, which includes the ability to accommodate small private parties in addition to the cat lounge and cafe/retail offerings.
