    Dragon Donuts Adding Two Locations

By the end of the year, Dragon Donuts fans will be able to get their fix from nearly every corner of the city. The donut shop has plans to triple its footprint after less than a year in business.

Initially debuting in Grove City in February 2019, Dragon Donuts will add its second and third shops in Fifth by Northwest and Easton in 2020.

In both cases, Owner Courtney Butcher says they were approached by property managers to bring their sugary confections to new corners of Columbus.

Opening first will be the Fifth by Northwest location at 1288 W. Fifth Ave. Butcher says the location was too good to pass up. Hours are still being finalized, but they’ll aim to open on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 17, exactly one year after Grove City opened.

The sole donut presence at Easton, that shop will open in mid-to-late 2020 as a part of the Easton expansion. It represents a new opportunity for Dragon Donuts, being surrounded by more nightlife-focused options like Forbidden Root brewery, Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce and Beeline. Butcher says it will be open later and feature a new menu with more late-night options, including sandwiches.

That’s not the only menu change for Dragon Donuts. Made-to-order cake donuts in flavors from Classic Glaze and Chocolate Dip, to Bacon Me Crazy and Fruity Tutti will continue to be their bread and butter, but they’ve already started experimenting with adding more yeast donuts to the mix.

First come, first serve runs of yeast donuts, Long Johns and Boston Creams are available on the weekends, but it will become a seven-day-a-week affair when Grandview opens. They want to make sure options are available no matter what type of donut a customer prefers.

When more and more made-to-order donut shops are popping up, Butcher says it’s their atmosphere that sets them apart.

“If you walk into Dragon Donuts and are having a bad day, I promise you are going to leave with a smile on your face,” she says.

The shop is also focused on giving employment opportunities to individuals with less than perfect backgrounds. According to their website, Dragon Donuts strives to help individuals “regain stability by learning new skills, supporting personal and professional growth, all while giving back to our society in a positive way.”

    For a current donut fix, Dragon Donuts Grove City is located at 2806 London Groveport Rd. It’s open from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday.
