After a successful summer, Dinin’ Hall announced today that it will continue to operate the Franklinton food pod business throughout the upcoming winter months. Owners Tim Lai and Eliza Ho are working on making the space weatherproof so that food truck fans can continue to enjoy their favorite venues without freezing out in the cold.
“Normally, people associate street food with summer and festivals,” said Ho. “But we think great street food should be available and enjoyed year round.”
A new ceiling-hung heater is being installed in the Dinin’ Hall space and the old garage doors are being replaced with glass panels doors. Operations at Dinin’ Hall will still work the same where food trucks are parked outside where orders can be placed while indoor seating is provided to create a gathering place with the amenities of a sit-down restaurant.
Columbus boasts a mobile food scene of over 70 trucks and carts currently in operation in 2012. This year also saw hundreds of summer events where mobile food vendors were a prominent feature.
Dinin’ Hall opened at 400 West Rich Street in May and has featured over 30 mobile food vendors on a rotating basis every weekday for lunch.
“Dinin’ Hall has been a great addition to East Franklinton,” said Jim Sweeney, executive director of the Franklinton Development Association. “They have really helped raise awareness of the potential in this neighborhood. I’m very happy that they’re going to stay open this winter.”
