de-NOVO Planning Relocation to Highpoint on Columbus Commons
According to a teaser posted on Facebook yesterday, de-NOVO Bistro & Bar may soon be getting a new home. Currently located at 201 South High Street, the restaurant may soon be moving across the street to a first-floor retail space inside Highpoint at Columbus Commons.
Details are sparse at the moment, but the floorplan posted on Facebook reveals a layout at the corner of High Street and the pedestrian entrance to the Commons at Town Street. The restaurant looks to seat approximately 180 indoors and another 52 on an outdoor patio facing the park.
de-NOVO is owned by FAB Dining Group, a collection of local restaurants helmed by Yavonne Sarber, which includes Manifesto and Oliver’s. Sarber declined a request for an interview on the news, indicating that more details will be coming sometime in the next few weeks.
Sarber did add that the old de-NOVO spot will not sit empty for long, as she’s already working on a new diner-style concept there, which will feature craft beer and pool tables. She said that she expects this type of casual concept to cater to the new residents moving into neighboring apartment buildings in the area.
The relocation of de-NOVO and the opening of the new concept are expected to take approximately six months to complete.
“Having tenants at Highpoint will make it more attractive for additional retailers, as they contribute new street level activity to that area,” said Kacey Brankamp, Director of Strategic Initiatives at Capital Crossroads Special Improvement District. “Having an additional restaurant also helps to make this area of South High more of a destination like Gay Street or South Fourth Street.”
